Catalyst-less / Straight Type
The catalyst is positioned immediately after the turbocharger. When power is increased through engine tuning or for motorsports use, the high temperature and pressure from the combustion chamber to the catalyst can place significant strain on the engine and potentially cause the catalyst to melt.
Replacing the downpipe with a catalyst-less straight type reduces backpressure and temperature, lowering engine stress. Its necessity increases for engine protection depending on tuning or application.
Lowering backpressure after the turbo also improves exhaust flow, contributing to increased power.
