Sales Style
We take your stock turbocharger and upgrade it for high flow by replacing the compressor and turbine wheels with larger ones and modifying the stock turbo housing.
All stock parts can be reused.
Installation is possible without reinforcing major engine components.
Torque characteristics of DME tuning
With DME tuning, the S55 engine delivers intense acceleration up to around 4,500 rpm, but beyond that point, acceleration becomes more gradual, and the engine feels like it’s coasting up to redline.
This is because the stock turbo’s maximum air intake capacity is reached around 4,500 rpm; as RPM increases, the air-to-fuel ratio decreases. Since peak power is achieved above 6,000 rpm, the car continues to accelerate, but the drop in torque causes the acceleration to become sluggish.
A high-flow turbo is a recommended upgrade if you want to minimize this torque drop and achieve smooth acceleration all the way into the high-RPM range.
Power Balance
Compared to the stock setup, torque is significantly higher in the high-rpm range (above around 3,500 rpm), but low-rpm torque remains roughly on par with the stock level.
When compared to a DME-tuned vehicle, the turning point is around 4,500 rpm.
The engine runs smoothly from low to high rpm and is easy to control, with particularly quick response in the high-rpm range.
DME tuning on the actual vehicle is required for power upgrades.
It is difficult to achieve sufficient power gains by upgrading the turbocharger alone.
DME tuning commensurate with the upgraded turbocharger is necessary.
While results vary depending on measurement conditions (such as ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure) and tuning specifications, actual measured power without rear tire correction ranges from approximately 620 to 670 horsepower.
GCG Upgrade
This is a LAPTORR-exclusive specification and differs from standard GCG products.
All upgrade work—including machining, assembly, and balancing—is performed by GCG JAPAN.
