Catalyst-less/straight type
The catalyst is located right after the turbo, and when power is increased through engine tuning or motor sports, the combustion chamber to the catalyst becomes hot and pressurized, which increases the burden on the engine and may cause the catalyst to melt.
By using a straight type downpipe without a catalyst, the exhaust pressure and temperature will be reduced and the burden on the engine will be lowered. Depending on the tuning and application, the need for engine protection may increase.
Lower exhaust pressure after turbocharging improves exhaust flow and contributes to increased power.
